Four Wheels of Fury wins a Webby
"Blizzard has posted that the commercial for the Toyota truck that used WoW as a setting has won a People's Choice Webby award for online commercial. It was beaten out for the actual award by those Mac vs. PC online ads that spanned across some of the most popular websites online, but in the voting, the people decided that ""I am the lawgivaaa!"" was a little more exciting and creative. And as big a fan as I am of John Hodgman (and I am a big fan), I have to agree. So rack up another award for using Blizzard's game in television media. Personally, I'm waiting until the networks figure out that they need to set a sitcom in Azeroth -- can't wait to see ""The Thunderhorns,"" coming to NBC this fall. Over the next couple of days, we're going to dig deep into the archives of WoW machinima, thanks to our dear readers. I never thought I'd end up featuring anything with Kelly Clarkson music in the background, but this movie is in the same vein as Here Without You. Those that were around for that tearjerker may not be as impressed with Because of You, but it's still powerful nonetheless. Where the former involved a man taking revenge for his woman, the latter has it the opposite way. Dating back to October 2006, this little story is about a lady that will go to the depths of hell to avenge her fallen man. This seems to be a popular format for machinima, as it's been repeated in almost every serious plotline movie out there in the last few years. However, if you're a big sap and enjoyed the movie like I did, check out the higher quality version. " "I have to admit, sometimes I dread it when new video card drivers come out.
It always seems like something about them goes wrong, and one of my favorite games refuses to work well with them, and I end up having to roll back to some old drivers just to play what I want to play again. That said, sometimes they also work well, and your graphics run smoother, and life is good. As Alex said to me earlier, Azeroth is a whole lot prettier when it's at 90 fps instead of 10 fps. But seriously, to the point. buy cheap wow gold Here's a heads up to all our Nvidia card users who like living on the edge as far as upgrading goes. Nvidia has just released new beta drivers for their graphics cards. We repeat: these are beta drivers, so only install if you know what you're doing. Here's the links: Windows XP Windows XP x64, Server 2003 x64 Windows Vista 32-bit Windows Vista 64-bit WoW gets a mention in the release notes as well. eq2 platinum If you've been having performance problems in WoW lately and you have a Geforce 6800/6600 GT, it looks like there might be a fix for you. [Via worldofwar.net] From Nvidia themselves: GeForce 6800/6600 GT: Slow performance with World of Warcraft in SLI mode. This is not an NVIDIA bug, but instead the result of a recent patch for World of Warcraft to reduce mouse lag on slower computers by synchronizing the GPU(s). wowgold This change is unnecessary for NVIDIA users, and particularly for users with SLI configurations. For optimal performance when playing World of Warcraft in SLI mode: Disable vertical sync within the World of Warcraft in-game video options. Enable hardware mouse acceleration and disable smooth mouse within the World of Warcraft in-game video options. wow gold cheap " "With Wrath of the Lich King and the return of the Scourge to the spotlight, an old friend comes back along with them.
The Nerubians! We haven't seen much of them in the World of Warcraft yet beyond being undead lackies, they have a long, quite interesting backstory. We saw a little more in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, but their story goes even deeper. wow powerlevel In the big picture of Warcraft, their ancestors predate all but the Trolls, and maybe even them. In the beginning there were the Silithid. Insectoid horrors that crawled forth from the Well of Eternity just happened to grab the interest of the Old Gods. The most notable of them so far being C'Thun. C'Thun crafted avatars of war from the Silithid, twisting them into humanoid soldiers. friend These avatars became known as the Aqir. The Aqir are best described as 'evil' though that is always in the eye of the beholder. The Aqir were one of three super powers in the world at the time, roughly 16,000 years prior to the Orcish invasion of Azeroth.

Should Blizzard allow us to deposit money in a personal bank?
"Ok, I'll be honest. I'm pretty fine with how we handle money now. Sure, back in Everquest, I needed to go deposit my money in my bank, because due to the encumbrance system, if I had kept all my platinum coins on me, I would have been glued to the spot, unable to walk. But in WoW, there's no encumbrance, and our coins take up no inventory space. Still, I've seen a lot of people ask to be able to deposit money in the bank, so, being an equal time type of guy, I thought I'd sit back and try to figure out what the advantages would be. As far as I can tell, there's basically two. One, it prevents you from making impulse purchases at vendors or in the Auction House, and two, if the money bank is shared between all characters on a server, it makes transferring money between characters for major purchases a little bit easier. The first, well. I suppose the whole impulse purchasing thing can certainly be a problem, especially if you're leveling up a new alt. Sure, that level 29 ""of the Monkey"" cloak is up for 10 gold, but damn if it wouldn't be awesome for your Rogue. Sure, that Orb of Deception is up for 750 gold, but it lets you turn into a Gnome. How sweet is that. In that case, being able to ""lock away"" part of your gold and making you make a conscious decision to walk to the bank and withdraw it before you could use it could prevent those. If you don't have the gold, you don't make the purchase. If you have to go get the gold, you have an opportunity to think about it and decide if it's really worth it. wow geld The second is also understandable enough.
I recently purchased epic flight for my Hunter, and do to so I ended up logging between 3 other characters to send over enough gold so my Hunter could afford it. So in that case, being able to walk over to the bank and just grab gold my characters deposited back the last time I was actively playing them would be convenient. lord of the rings online gold That said, I'm not sure either of this reasons is really good enough to put Blizzard on programming the option. The fact is, you can already more or less simulate the idea of a bank with a bank alt. Send all your gold to them, leaving yourself only a bit to buy food, water, ammunition, reagents, and any other emergency supplies. sell wow gold The process of switching over to them to withdraw gold to buy something should give you the same ""cool down"" period for impulse purchases, and since you know all your gold is with them, you will always know exactly where to go to send your latest 70 the money to buy flying skill. I suppose it can be a pain to switch to your bank alt to get the gold, but hey, it leaves the programmers free to work on WoTLK. " "LFG Armory is a new site that's aiming to beat the official Armory at its own game. wowgold Blizzard's site, as complete as it is, is still occasionally buggy and slow, and LFG Armory is looking to give players an alternative. And it works fairly well -- while the FAQ claims that data may be a little behind (due to caching of Blizzard's information), both the guild and player profile pages look pretty good and load quickly (and if the site can stay up after we link to them here, that'll be a real sign that it's a stable server). But the real feature that makes LFG Armory something more than Blizzard's official site is that it has a guild and arena team matching system built in.
Once you register your name and your characters, you can do a search for guilds and arena teams and try to find one that matches what you want -- percentage of level 70s, class makeup, and number of members. runescape money On the guild side, you can set your guild as looking, and then when you hit a match, LFG will match you up. It's an interesting system, but like all social networks, it all depends on participation -- when I looked for a guild for my Hunter on Cenarius (who could use a guild, by the way), nothing came up, because likely no one on the server was looking (for a Hunter at least). But as an alternative to the Armory, LFG is looking pretty good.

It came from the Blog: The running of the Orphans
"Last Sunday, It came from the Blog gathered to run the Orgrimmar Children's Week quests together. Some weren't level 10 yet, but ran with us anyway. Because many of us didn't have the flightpaths (and because it was more fun) we ran together from objective to objective. Our Orphans were very well behaved, even after we gave them ice cream. I hope they enjoyed their group field trip as much as I did. Don't forget to join us this Sunday for the Revenge of the Orc-Moms. We'll be meeting at 6pm Eastern/Blog Time (4pm Server time, 3pm Pacific). Bring your female Orc with some form of ""mother"" in the name and your maternal sense of humor. I hope to see you there! Social networking around MMOs just hit the big time. Shawn Fanning, creator of Napster way back when, created a site called Rupture a while back that purported to be a social networking site based around World of Warcraft. Since then, the site seemingly hasn't done anything all that interesting -- they've added a few games and a few new features, but they haven't yet made it out of beta, and it wasn't apparent that anyone was real interested in Rupture. Until now -- EA (yes, that EA) has ponied up a whopping $30 million to buy Rupture and all of its potential up. A move to put some social networking into play on their upcoming Warhammer Online title. Taking competition away from an upcoming official site covering all their games. Whatever EA is planning to do with Rupture, they're paying through the nose for it -- this makes the $1 million Wowhead buyout look like chump change. Then again, if Rupture turns out to be the ""Facebook for gamer""s that they hope to be, $30 million will look like a bargain. Either way, EA just put their money where their mouth is in the social networking MMO game. " "As the first guild to have killed M'uru, SK-Gaming has now released their video of the fight.
You can see it above (if it's working; there seem to be some server issues on their end), or go to their site to download it in full-res glory. wow power leveling There are two different points of view: a BM hunter, and an enhancement shaman. I haven't been able to watch it yet because it's been down, but I'm sure it's an exciting fight. The SK guild leaders also gave an interview a couple of days ago on their site. Here are some things they said that I find interesting: SK is very impressed with the tuning on the fight, and think Kil'jaeden, the next fight, ""might turn out to be the best encounter ever made."" Everyone gets to take an active role in the fight; for instance, there are adds that can only be killed by an offensive dispell, and melee gets to use stuns, mages get to polymorph, etc. buy wow gold The viability of feral druids has been increased; they think Resto shaman is the ""strongest overall class."" Most of the loot is pretty good, although they would have preferred a token system. And of course they're looking forward to Kil'jaeden; who wouldn't be in that situation. One final note: a third guild, in addition to SK-Gaming (world first) and Exodus (US first), has managed to down M'uru. gold wow Premonition, an Alliance guild on Alleria-US (and the first US guild to kill the Eredar Twins), took him down last night and received the following loot: Breastplate of Agony's Aversion, Bladed Chaos Tunic, Gloves of the Forest Drifter, and Sin'dorei Band of Dominance. Supremus has acquired a new target! Unlike our last victim of the Black Temple, Spellweave, of Kul Tiras-EU, is not standing around waiting to get smushed. But how fast can those little gnome legs take her from that giant abyssal.
Especially wearing a pink tabard. guild wars gold That clashes ridiculously with the headpiece and shoulders. The effect is that of a stick of cotton candy dipped in rat skulls. You have only two hours left to participate in AA's latest user submission challenge: Grand Theft Azeroth! Send us pics of you (or your friends, we're not picky) committing your most nefarious deeds in the style of the GTA series. Mount-jackings, thefts, murders, muggings, cruelty to animals and critters, picking up blood elf ladies of the night, punting gnomes -- let your wicked side out. cheap wow gold Send your screenshots to aroundazeroth@wowinsider.com by noon EST on TODAY, Thursday, May 8, and please use the phrase ""GTA"" somewhere in your e-mail title. Do you have any unusual World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder. We'd love to see it on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wowinsider.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene.

Scattered Shots: Why certain pet families are so popular
"Scattered Shots is for Hunters. David Bowers is caught in a Freezing Trap this week, so Daniel Whitcomb -- who did not set the trap, he swears to the Light -- is substituting for him. You hear it pretty much all the time if you've ever slightly dipped into the world of Hunters. If you want to play in the big leagues, conventional wisdom says you're pretty much stuck with a select handful of pet types (also known as pet families): Ravagers, Cats, and Raptors for PvE, Scorpids for PvP. But do you know why those pet families are so desired. What it really comes down to is Hunter roles and abilities. DPS: The PvE Hunter pet's raison d'etre. In PvE, a Hunter has one role: DPS. Yes, he can bring a little bit of extra utility in the form of traps, dispelling, mana drain, pet off-tanking, and Misdirection, and I shall not deny that, but his ultimate role is to make sure the boss dies fast by optimizing his DPS. One aspect of Hunter DPS is their pet, especially if they are Beastmastery specced. So in order to do the best DPS they can, a Hunter must get a pet who turns out the best DPS. Ravagers, Cats, and Raptors fill this role the most readily, for two reasons. The first reason is their base damage. Each pet family will have innate modifiers as compared to a baseline of their DPS, HP, and AC. Sometimes it will be a positive modifier, sometimes a negative modifier. In the case of the aforementioned Cats, Ravagers, and Raptors, they all have a +10% modifier to their DPS, which means that they will do more base DPS than most other pet families. The second reason is their skills. Each of these pet families also has a focus dump.
Quite a few pure DPS hunter builds will include one of two talents that provide extra focus to a pet: Go for the Throat and Bestial Discipline. With these abilities in play, chances are your pet will eventually have some excess focus to get rid of. When that time comes, what they need is a focus dump: That is, an instant-cast damage ability that has no cooldown (apart from the global cooldown). Raptors and Cats have this in the form of Claw, while Ravagers have Gore. They also all have Dash, which means they can close with the enemy and begin DPSing quickly. All of this means that they will always be able to use their focus to churn out as much damage as possible, thus contributing to their master's main role in a raid or group. Cleanse and Abolish Poison: Why Scorpids are the kings of PvP pets. In PvP, a Hunter is still considered a DPSer, but the fact of the matter is that PvP opponents are bit more wily and have better self-preservation instincts than your average PvE mob. wow gold They won't just stand there and get tanked while you plink them with your shot rotation. Thus, in this case, you need to use your utility a bit more often. Scatter Shot and traps play a large role in PvP for a Hunter for sure, but Viper Sting may be one of the Hunter's most infamous and useful Arena abilities. wow gold The problem with Viper Sting is that it can be dispelled rather easily by both Paladins and Druids, taking away a major part of a Hunter's ability to counter them in the Arenas. Improved Stings is one way to deal with this, but it doesn't always do the trick. The other way to deal with this is by stacking additional poisons.
wow gold While you can do this with Snake Trap, there is the problem of luring the Paladin or Druid into the trap in the first place, and the fact that you may need to save your Trap cooldown for Freezing or Frost Traps. Luckily, there is one other option in this case: the Scorpid pet. Scorpid Poison is the secret to the success of many an Arena hunter. world of warcraft gold It is a Poison-based DoT that stacks up to five times. What this means is that if you let your Scorpid stack it on your target and then let off a Viper Sting, Your Paladin will have to Cleanse the target up to 6 times (possibly even more with Improved Stings) to get the Viper sting off. Likewise, a Druid's Abolish Poison will have to tick up to 6 times (that's more than one cast worth of ticks) to rid it of Viper Sting. wow gold kaufen It's still a bit of a roulette, but there is a strong chance that the Viper Sting will have stayed up a lot longer than it would have had your pet not been a Scorpid.
