New Poses for New Phases

If you've ever seen a mother neglect her own needs to spend more time taking care of her family, you're familiar with the American "mommy syndrome." New mothers, commonly overextended—and overwhelmed—with their new responsibilities, seem particularly prone. Yoga class may be the one time when a new mom is able to relax and take time for herself. As a teacher, it's up to you to help your postnatal student get the most from her yoga practice.

In this issue of MYM, learn how to best serve your student who has recently given birth, including ways to help her strengthen her core. Then, help all of your students to relax their necks and shoulders more safely. Finally, ask our MYM experts your teaching questions.

Namaste,
Erica Rodefer
